CONCLUSION¶
With the emergence of “NewSpace” mega-constellations which promises to provide low-latency and high-throughput Internet service globally, this paper studies a futuristic yet important problem: can mega-constellations help to enable lowlatency RTC globally? We propose S PACE RTC, a cooperative framework that judiciously selects communication paths over clouds and satellites to accelerate wide-area online interactions. Comprehensive evaluations driven by real videoconferencing traces show that our cooperative framework can reduce up to 64.9% communication latency for wide-area RTC sessions.
